Try it let me know for sure what i have tested and all games i played i did not have a problem but this bug is so random so who knows. The hacks only add items to your inventory. Yes still works but i have not tested enough. Though I have not touched this game since the ridiculous blood pack and necron lord were both introduced. Old machine didn't have this issue anymore after I updated realtek audio drivers. I'm trying this now, and will see if it makes a difference for me. Not 100% sure it fixes it but it seems to at the moment i just gotta run more game. As Ive talked about in another post, theres various locations in Dawn of War 2 - Retribution where you can set up in a way that enables you to basically afk-farm items at locations where opponents respawn. At 300 it never does that fps spike but i think the speed is causing the clog for the voices to get messed up. Item Farming, Dawn of War 2 - Retribution I just wanted to make a short post about my item farming setups in Dawn of War 2 - Retribution. So now i notice the very first sound wave that comes into the game like if the orks start going warghhhh or guns shooting the game will almost have a fps hiccup every game at the start of the first sound that comes into the game and than it never happens again. In the middle somewhere there is options for sounds. What i did here was i went into DOW2 main folder, there is a file called "Essence.ini" i clicked on it edit with notepad. I did manage to stop the bug with a new way, i didn't test too much but so far good, but the first one i did was wrong and still caused snd errors.

All of your suggestions have been tried long time ago and none of them fixes the issue, only reducing frequency of occurence. Simply put, none of the audio tweaks works.

I'm not gonna state it is garbage as a whole (for me it is indeed, yeah), but the fact that DoW2 needs a patch since the initial release is undeniable, regardless of what the problem is, the game or the OS. Dawn of War 2 - Retribution v3.5 MULTI9 Fixed Files Dawn of War 2 - Gold Edition v6 MULTI9 Fixed Files Dawn of War 2 - Gold Edition v2. Windows 10, on the contrary, has a lot of problems with older games. Probably it's safe to say that's the other stable environment is a Proton on Linux, couple of months without any single event (has it's own problems, so not a recommendation).

Saying from my own experience, even Windows 7 is not immune, I had bug occurance on it for a couple of times, though it might be just a problematic soundcard (2-3 soundbugs in a 2+ years in really weird scenarios).

Sound bug is unrelated to ANY audio settings, it's just something has been changed in the driver system of newer versions of Windows.
